A favor for today

Between a very happy hour on Wednesday with my dear friend Scott, followed by one of the Best Weekends Ever in Key West, and the Bears game last night -- there's been no time for writing.

But like an old mainframe, it's all processing.

In the mean time, here's your project for today: Thank someone.

Not because they did something nice for you.

Just thank them for being.

Because sometimes that's all they have to do to make a difference in your life.

Can't just thank you for being. Thanks for blogging. Makes my day brighter. John Denver covered Jet Plane? Sacrilege! Box Tops only. There are some things you just don't mess with.

John Denver wrote Jet Plane. Unbelievable, I know. And thanks for commenting, today and always! :)

I feel really dumb. Upon reading your comment, I Googled Jet Plane. Turns out when I was commenting originally, I was thinking about "The Letter." Great song and not written by John Denver. For your edification, it is reproduced below:

The Letter
(written by Wayne Carson Thompson)

Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane,
Ain't got time to take a fast train.
Lonely days are gone, I'm a-goin' home,
'Cause my baby just a-wrote me a letter.

I don't care how much money I gotta spend,
Got to get back to my baby again
Lonely days are gone, I'm a-goin' home,
'Cause my baby just a-wrote me a letter.

Well, she wrote me a letter
Said she couldn't live without me no mo'.
Listen mister can't you see I got to get back
To my baby once a-mo'--anyway...

Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane,

Lonely days are gone, I'm a-goin' home,
'Cause my baby just a-wrote me a letter.

'Cause my baby just a-wrote me a letter.
Because my baby just a-wrote me a letter.
